Star Rune is the ultimate typing game and the funnest experience typing you've ever had! Slash and dash through hordes of cookies and evil letters. 力. 速. 志. Unleash the true power of a super star!
The World of Star Rune
The Stars have always guarded Shape World from the Azki. They wielded Twelve Legendary swords, forged from Star Runes. The most powerful was called Kry XeRnOg. But in secret, someone cursed it with Dark Runes. The Curse destroyed the sword, wielder, and his home.
Five Kings gathered near Kry XeRnOg. From its broken shards, they forged new blades.
BC NOFNe forged BAlGaInTl Al "SiPS" ClArK forged PAsSbBi GaGe AsSe forged OSSeTePo TeI Xecs forged SiGe P.b. BiPoAt forged BrIAtTs
But The Curse lived on through these swords, and corruption spread across the Five Kingdoms. Hordes of Azki swarmed the world. And the Stars were never seen again.

What makes Star Rune special
Unlike any typing game you've played before
Every stroke = Action
Most typing games require you to type full words before anything interesting happens. In Star Rune, every single keystroke is rewarded. Explosions, sliced letters, falling enemies, treasure, dashing across the screen, etc... These are all performed by single strokes.
This is especially important to kids/new typists who struggle to find one key at a time. But for those who type fast, you'll feel a rush you won't forget.
Beginner friendly, fun for all
There's no threat of death in Star Rune until mid/late game. It's literally impossible to die in the first half of the game. Enemies will attack you, but minor attacks are automatically deflected. Major attacks merely slow you down.
This creates a stress-free environment for a new typist to learn/play at their own pace. Typing faster gives higher scores and more rewards, but there is no such thing as failure.
Smooth natural typing
The movement in Star Rune is completely akin to real-world typing. You are not holding WASD to move; you dash attack to move through the level; and dash attacks change depending on which enemies are in front of you.
Unlike most typing games which seem to completely forget about the spacebar, [SPACE], [SHIFT], [CAPS], [TAB], and [ENTER] are all integrated into the game in an intuitive way which mimics the same frequency of real typing.
Learn more through lore
Through the story/lore of the game, you will subconsciously learn about Chemistry / Periodic Table of Elements, and you'll be given opportunities to practice morse code and foreign languages as well.
118 Levels named after 118 periodic table elements. 118 Evil Elemental Lords, for element of the periodic table. Mnemonic Devices to help remember the order of the periodic table.

Star Rune is intuitive + quick/easy to play, but the game mechanics are also very nuanced

Full Charge + Ultimate
When you have Full Charge, you'll gain an aura, your attacks will be a little bit stronger, and you can cast a unique Ultimate Attack from 1 of 12 Legendary swords. Ultimates are typically good ways to finish off annoying Glitchborn or guarantee damage when there is no good dashline to be made. But use them wisely! They require casting time and will use all of your Charge.
Auto Deflect
Nova automatically will deflect Azki lasers. Later, you can upgrade your sword(s) to reflect these at Glitchborn to deal extra damage.
Dash
When you see a highlighted Azki, type that letter; you'll dash through them and build up your Charge.
Chain Dash
When you see consecutive Azki of the same type, hold their key down and you'll quickly slash through all of them. But each Azki dashed this way provides you with only 25% of the normal Charge reward.
Triple Jump + Spin Slash
Press [SPACE] to jump; you have up to 3 jumps. Jumping engages a Spin Slash; each time you press [SPACE], you'll spin faster and your Spin Dash will grow.
Slow Fall
Hold [SPACE] to fall slowly.
Fast Fall + Meteor Slash
Press [TAB] to perform a Fast Fall. Pressing it while moving downward creates a Meteor Slash. This will damage Glitchborn and Cookies. You can also use this to "Ground Pound" an arrow down faster.
Full Charge + Ultimate

We used to teach through games, through songs, through stories! People used the sky to navigate, and ancient Mythology helped us recognize those patterns in the sky.
Where should one start with typing?
My daughter struggled learning to type. It was SOOO boring. So I relentlessly had her try typing game after typing game, there are not too many, and they were all disappointing… Too complicated, too stressful, bad graphics, unnatural to real typing, no story, etc.. None of them were designed for new typists. Some of them were outright inappropriate. And pretty much all of them became boring after about 2 minutes of gameplay.
I'm creating Star Rune to teach my kids to type, in a fun way that would remain fun day after day. But as someone who sometimes types 100+ wpm, I also wanted a little something fun for myself. Something with grit. Something with emotion. Something with soul. Something timeless. Something I can pour years of my life into and be proud to leave behind when I die. Not something scraped together over the weekend by underpaid interns who could honestly care less. This game is for both the typing pro AND the novice who has never, ever typed in their life. No matter where you’re at, this game will help you in your journey.
